Longer indexing delays reported for new domains

Across SEO communities, owners of newly-launched domains have reported longer-than-usual waits for first indexing in early May 2026.

What we're seeing

New domains with little trust and few discovery signals are sitting in “Discovered – currently not indexed” longer. Established sites appear largely unaffected.

What to do

Strengthen discovery with a valid sitemap, internal links and relevant external links. Use GSC URL Inspection for priority Google URLs, Google's Indexing API only for supported JobPosting or BroadcastEvent pages, and IndexNow only for participating engines.

Takeaway

If you have just launched, verify crawlability, strengthen internal linking and use only signals applicable to each URL and search engine. No channel guarantees crawl priority or indexing time.
